Welcome to Southridge P.S.
Home of the Superstars!
Southridge Public School is a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 school. We are the home of the Superstars! Our school colours are green and gold. Southridge Public School opened in 1965 and is located at 1425 Queens Boulevard in Southwest Kitchener. We have a large outdoor school yard, a creative structure and a large tarmac area for the students to enjoy.
The Southridge school community welcomes a diverse group of people and cultures. Southridge has an English as a Second Language component with 38 different languages and 19 countries represented in our halls! Parents, students and staff work together in a variety of ways to make Southridge a great place for learning and growing together.
Our Students
Southridge School is the home of the Southridge Superstars! There are approximately 470 superstar students at our wonderful community school. At Southridge we believe that appropriate behaviour will be acquired through the learning process, which is a shared responsibility between the home, the school and the community. Our Code of Conduct emphasizes positive actions and applies to everyone in the school. In accordance with provincial and WRDSB policy, this code of conduct “governs the expectations of students, staff, volunteers and visitors on school property”.
The following expectations are outlined in our Code of Conduct:
- Act and Play Safely
- Be Polite, Kind and Respectful
- Solve Problems by Talking
- Be Responsible
Students are recognized for following these expectations at our monthly Super Star assemblies when they receive Superstar nominations. The school mascot is a panda bear named Super Bear.
All Students and Staff are expected to follow the WRDSB Responsible Use Procedure for Information, Communication, and Collaboration Technologies.

Good oral health is important to childrens’ overall health. Yet, for some, regular dental care may not be affordable. Healthy Smiles Ontario is a program for children 17 and under who do not have access to any form of dental coverage. If eligible, your children will get regular dental services at no cost to you.

Southridge is staying Green!
We are currently in our fourth year of implementing the Green Bin Program at Southridge. Our Green Team collects over two curb-side bins full of paper towels every two days! Imagine where this paper used to go.
Congratulations to all of our team members and staff who are making the world a greener place!

Southridge Character Traits
At Southridge we teach and live Character Development skills. We focus on the Traits of Hope, Efficacy, Resilience, Optimism, Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness. Throughout the year we focus on one trait per month, which we exemplify in all of our words and actions. The students enjoy a monthly assembly and class and group activities that support our Character Trait for the month.
