Welcome to Southridge P.S.
Home of the Superstars!
Southridge Public School is located in Southwest Kitchener. We opened in 1965. Our colours are green and gold and our mascot is a panda named Superbear.
Southridge has a population of approximately 400 students, from junior kindergarten to grade 6, and 45 teachers and support staff. Our programming includes French Immersion and an Alternative Continuum of Education (ACE) classroom. We are a holding school for a portion of the Trussler North Part A Development Area. We welcome a diverse group of people and cultures. Most of our students continue grade 7 at Queensmount Public School while our French Immersion students attend at Westmount Public School.
Southridge offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities that vary from year to year depending on student and staff interest. In the past, we have offered a variety of intramural sports and clubs, from basketball to gardening to Rubik’s cubes. Students in the junior grades are provided with opportunities to show leadership whether it is assisting younger students or delivering pizza on Fridays. We also participate in community initiatives like food and clothing drives, the Terry Fox Run and Jump Rope for Heart.
Staff at Southridge have a wide variety of experiences. We have experienced educators balanced with new and beginning teachers and staff. Every year, we welcome Teacher, Early Childhood Education, and Educational Assistant candidates from local Colleges and Universities. Our staff engage students in The Umbrella Project to learn positive coping skills. Click here to learn more about this program and how it supports our students’ social and emotional learning.
