It is with a very heavy heart that the Southridge Public School community mourns the passing of Hadil Hudeyden on Sunday, August 2, as the result of cancer. Hadil was in Mr. Gibson’s grade six class this past school year. She has siblings who just finished grade four and grade one at Southridge P.S.  She also has a pre-school sibling at home and older siblings.

Hadil will be missed for the friendships she shared, for her quiet maturity, for her relaxed attitude, for her dry sense of humour, and for the calmness she added to the culture of the classroom.

In honour of Hadil, and in honouring the wishes of her family, flags will be lowered on August 6, for one week, at the school and also at the Waterloo Region District School Board Education Centre.

While at home, your children may have questions or may express feelings about death.  Children respond positively to direct, honest and age appropriate answers about loss and benefit from the opportunity to discuss these feelings with caring adults. If you have any concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me/us via email to discuss support.

On behalf of the Southridge Public School community, we express our deepest condolences to the Hudeyden family.
